In your groups you will need to discuss which aspect of this general question you are going to research and formulate a more specific research question and hypothesis. You will then be required to gather primary and secondary data in order to test your experimental hypothesis.
Each member of your group will then be allocated a method for data collection: observation or interviews/questionnaires.
The collected data will then becompared and contrasted in terms of accuracy, reliability and validity within each group. However, the final report will be written independently by each student.
The report should be approximately 1,500 words (+/- 10%).
Introduction: Give some background to the topic to introduce your research and show its relevance. Use secondary sources, referencing appropriately.
Hypothesis: State the hypothesis you are investigating.
Ethical issues: Discuss any ethical points to be considered in undertaking this research.
Method: Briefly outline the method used to gather the data, referring to sample size, any materials used (e.g. questionnaires, tally charts), age of subjects used etc.
Results: Using summary tables and charts, summarise the results obtained. DO NOT include raw data here; a copy of the questionnaire/tally chart could be put in the appendix section. Remember percentages or mean values are often the most useful way of comparing responses of different groups.
Analysis: Discuss what your results actually mean; are there significant differences in responses between these groups? Does this evidence support your hypothesis? (DO NOT use the word PROVE!). Compare your results to the literature presented in your introduction to discuss whether your research ‘fits in’ with other research.
Evaluation: Critically discuss each methodthat you have used. Outline the strengths and weaknesses of each method commenting on theaccuracy, reliability and validity of your results.
Conclusion: What conclusions have you reached?
References: List, using the Harvard referencing system, all literature cited.
Appendices

Your assignment should be uploaded on to Turnitin before or on the due date and a hard copy submitted in class.
Remember: work should be at least 1.5 line spaced and word-processed with a word count at the end. Both references and appendices are not included in your final word count.
