Paper #1:
Write an essay on academic cheating. The theme, format, and length of your essay are open. One possible structure is to write a three-segment paper. Segment 2: your own thoughts and experiences compared and contrasted to key points identified in Segment 1. Segment 3: looking forward, what should the college of business administration do, or do more of, or do less of with respect to academic cheating? – Your ideas and recommendations.
Paper #2:
Write a paper proposing changes to the ethics dimension of the organizational culture of the College of Business Administration.
Write from your personal experience, observation, and perspective. The analysis may have three elements:
1. Deficit Analysis. Identify existing weaknesses in the ethics dimension of CBA culture, analyze root causes, and propose remedies. (This approach is “reactive,” focused on fixing what is broken.)
2. Appreciative Analysis. Identify existing strengths in the ethics dimension of CBA culture analyze what is working well, and propose how CBA can do more of that. (This approach is “proactive,” focused on identifying the best of what already exists and building on that to improve the future.)
3. Procedure Analysis. Keep in mind that organizational ethics (business ethics) is a mentoring function, not a police function. With respect to the current CBA culture, identify characteristics/procedures/rules that tend to mentor behavior and identify characteristics/ procedures/rules that tend to police behavior. Propose changes to enhance mentoring so as to diminish need for policing. (This approach is “preventive,” focused on helping people achieve the high ethics they already aspire to.)
