Watch a movie that involves a family or families (most movies do). If you have a question about whether or not a movie is appropriate for this assignment – feel free to send me an email; the options really are endless. Below are questions to address in an essay format:

1. A brief description of the movie (brief!).

2. What course theories or concepts from lectures and the book does this TV show illustrate?

3. Final thoughts on the movie

Keep in mind you only have 1-2 pages to briefly explain and analyze the movie. Use 12 pt Times New Roman font, double spacing, and 1” margins. Try to be concise with your explanation of the movie and in how you answer the above questions. Learning how to fit your thoughts into a page maximum (no longer than 2 pages) important skill to learn.

You will be scored as follows:

Clarity (entry is well written, on-topic and one to two pages in length) 4 pts

Accuracy (facts properly interpreted, cited, and applied) 12 pts

Professionalism (e.g., following all directions; use of appropriate language)4 pts

You will need to use appropriate in-text APA citations (no reference page needed):

For example, if you are talking about interpersonal distance and are elaborating on what the public zone is, you will need to place a citation either from the notes (Communication Lecture, 10/18/2015) (NOTE – you will need to change the lecture date) or from the book (Miller, 2015). As a note, taking word-for-word definitions is considered plagiarism and is subject to University Policies regarding plagiarism. If you decide you want to put a word-for-word definition in your paper you will need to place quotations (“”) around that section along with the specific page number from the book (Miller, 2015, p. 245). However, please try your hardest to write concepts in your own words. It helps with paragraph flow and shows the reader you know what you are talking about.
