Assignment Instructions:
Every business has something they could be doing better, faster, and with less stress. Your task this week is to
identify one IT system at your internship location that could be improved upon. It might be something like a
process for approving leave that is currently being done by manual forms but that could be converted to an
electronic process or new employee orientation, which would improve efficiency by making the training
available in electronic format.
Talk with your Internship Supervisor and others in the department you work in for ideas and suggestions. What
would be an improvement for their workflow, processes, equipment or customer service?
Use the template provided in Doc Sharing to complete the IT process improvement paper. This paper will
become part of your final report.
Respond to the following:
1. I have identified the following IT process improvement focus at my place of internship.
Describe the problem or system that would benefit from a new advancement, renovation, or
augmentation. Include sufficient detail so that your instructor can really understand the scope of this
project. It is a good idea to have your work supervisor involved in this project with you to help ensure
that you understand the problem clearly.
2. The individuals who would benefit from the process improvement are the following:
List the workers or the customer client base. You do not need to use names. Alternatively, you can list
them by position and describe their duties or customer profile. It is important to understand as much as
possible the full impact of the problem. By identifying all impacted people, you will be in a better
position to provide a strong solution!

3. They would benefit from the improvement due to:
Describe how worker performance or customer satisfaction could be improved with your suggested
proposal. For example, you might list the current workflow or system in place and how your suggestion
would be an improvement with increased productivity, more secure data archive, faster data transfer,
etc.
4. The key milestones identified to adopt the process improvement:
List the key milestones or benchmarks necessary to implement your process improvement. What main
benchmarks would be necessary to plan your suggested process upgrade? Consider listing any
necessary research topics, vendor contacts, installation, testing, and training components. At least 3–5
milestones should be identified.
5. Evaluation and validation of new system:
What suggestions do you have to evaluate and validate your process improvement? How would you
validate any gains resulting from the new system due to increased efficiencies, more secure data
archives, complete disaster recovery plans, or increased customer base? Consider how you could
compare the initial state to the improved status of your proposed system improvement.
