Each group will develop a class project that applies course concepts and complete an in-depth project on international HR. Students will have three options for presenting a course paper:
Option 1: Country Comparison Project. The country comparison project is a 15 page paper (title page, references, and appendices do not count in the page total) that asks you to compare and contrast the context, the HRM policies and practices, the likely effects and the characteristics of the HR department/function of two countries, with the U.S. being one, most likely. Provide as much insight and explanation into the differences or similarities as possible. Use your understanding of the impact of the contextual factors on the HR policies and practices to estimate what a country’s HR policies and practices are likely to be, just in case you can’t find specific information on them. Use this understanding in your discussion of the HR policies and practices you do find and the contextual factors of your countries. Make predictions about future trends towards possible convergence of HR policies and practices.
