Spiritual assessment tools are vital in assessing spiritual needs to the patient. The main objective is to evaluate the patients’ psychological and spiritual needs. Getting these tools is not a simple errand because it is an ideal avenue through which patients spiritual needs can be determined (Flannelly et al., 2006). However, spiritual evaluation tools are used to gather useful data that promotes the healing procedure of the patient. This paper addresses the creation of spiritual evaluation tool, use the tool to interview a patient, analyze the findings, summarize the results, determine areas of advancement and explain how this spiritual assessment provided to better accomplish the needs of the patient. Research demonstrates a close connection between physical needs and spiritual needs. Incorporating patient spiritual needs assessment into patient well-being has become important in distinctive health care settings and hospitals (Narayanasamy, 2011). Joint Commission has also recommended profound Spiritual assessment in the health care setting on accreditation of Healthcare organizations (JCAHO).

In my assessment, I based the finding on the FICA assessment tool. The tool allows health care providers and nurses gather information in a friendly manner; it is concise and covers critical areas. The tool also permits patients to explain their own experience about the important spiritual needs that may have an impact to the patient’s physical health.
