Polypharmacy and the Older Adult

For this assignment, you will take the perspective of a home health nurse providing care for an individual living with a chronic disease (diabetes, hypertension, COPD, or depression). Using the STOPP/START criteria, determine which medications your older adult patient should be prescribed, and what medications are to be avoided. As a nurse advocate, what would your role be if you discovered that your patient has contraindications to prescribed medications? What are the ethical issues related to this situation?
