My mentor Tricia is a caring and nice person . Tricia is a program specialist for the child development center at a nearby community college Mission College. She loves her career and the children that she work with . During the discussion , I can see how caring she is by gesture of showing me every little details of each classroom and the children’s art works. She told me that education can help to shape a child’s future . She believes that education is for all ages which means anyone can go to school and earn their degree at any ages and background . Young children should received the best education to prepare them for the future . She told me each child are unique in their own ways none of them are the same . She also mentioned working with children takes a lot of patient and compassionate same like a nurse or a doctor working with sick people .She also mentioned an early childhood educator is different than a caregiver . A caregiver is someone who is in charge of taking care of young children like feeding , bathing , and changing diapers but an early childhood educator is someone who responsible to teach them the skills and knowledge to prepare them for the future.
In my opinion , teachers is a powerful and knowledge person who can guide a student with all the skills that they have . Beside that , a teacher need to be compassionate and sweet . He or she have to like what they are doing . The important purpose of a teacher is to involves with the promoting of critical thinking through the avenue of engaging one’s faculty of thought. I believe that it is my duty as an educator to cultivate the mindset of the youth because of how critical thinking can go a long way. The importance of being a teacher is thus expressed through the notion of promoting intellectual growth and, at the same time, instilling values that would cultivate in a manner that is contributory to the learning process.
