695.401 Foundations of Information Assurance
For this assignment you will create a virtual machine (VM) running Kali Linux. Then you will download,
import and configure the web server VM. You will then use the Kali VM to run an nmap scan to verify
that you have both of the VMs installed and running correctly.
First you will need to install VirtualBox on your computer if you do not already have it. You are also
welcome to use another Virtualization program like VMware but all of the instructions in the class will
assume that you have VirtualBox and the VM images have been tested with VirtualBox. You can find a
link to download VirtualBox here where you will probably also want to install the VirtualBox Extension
Pack from:

You can either download the Kali Linux ISO and create the VM from scratch using the link here:

Choose either the 64-bit or 32-bit whichever is appropriate for your computer. The following link

You can download a prebuilt Kali Linux VMware image and use it create a VirtualBox VM.

You will need 7zip or another archive utility that supports the 7zip format to extract the files. Again
choose the appropriate image, 64-bit or 32-bit, for your computer.
