Internationalisation of tourism products and services about Madagascar

DescriptionThe government of a developing (or emerging) country is hiring a team of highly
qualified consultants to help develop its tourism sector. The country has
significant potential in tourism, but thus far it has been unable to become a
popular destination for international tourists. As a group, you should adopt the
position of a company (i.e. the consultancy company) that has been hired by this
government to advice on the ways in which the country can successfully enter
the tourism global value chain and benefit from participation in the global
tourism industry.

The key objectives to be achieved are:
 To investigate the selected country, provide an overview of its tourism
potential, and assess potential opportunities within the tourism sector
(i.e. what are the country’s key strengths in tourism, what potential is
there for developing new types of tourism/niche tourism, etc.)
 To identify and discuss key barriers for internationalisation of tourism
firms from that country; this can include both barriers created within the
country and outside the country by lead firms in the tourism global value
chain.
