I intend to eventually work in the hospital setting with surgeons and physician assistants. I would like to work for Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center located in Winston Salem, NorthCarolina. Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center is a not-for-profit hospital with 921 beds.

It is the largest hospital in the Novant system. Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center along with Novant Health Medical Park Hospital performs approximately 40,000 surgeries each year. The specific area I would like to focus my work in would be in the cardiovascular department.

This department focuses on the adult population that are affected with heart, lung, and vascular disease. On average there are roughly over 1000 patients treated within this department in a year.This hospital is partnered with the Cleveland Clinic’s Heart and Vascular Institute (Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, 2016).The scenario is a 45 years old male patient is presented to the emergency department via ambulance with active chest pain. Patient is placed on monitor and a significant ST elevation is noted. Patient is symptomatic and rushed to the cardiac catheterization lab.

After, cardiac catheterization patient is stable and transported to the cardiac unit. Consult for surgery is request by the cardiologist to the cardiac surgeon. The surgeon and his physician assistant have a full schedule of surgery for the day. The family nurse practitioner can help wit…………………
