It also leads to expiry of perishable goods. When the impacts caused by traffic congestion on the road are assessed both perspectives should be considered.

Recently much attention has been laid on simulation and theoretical models to show transport cost is affected by congestions hence affecting the firm behavior. Statistics show that behavioral responses that occur due to timing and type of delays, lead to a lot of operational responses that are against unexpected and expected the delay. The nature of operational responses and affected parties vary according to the industries.  The congestion does not only affect the delivery of products to distributors but also affect the distribution of finished product to retail market(Gerdes, 2008). Congestion can be categorized into two recurring daily traffic this is due to  reduced speed of vehicles as they queue to assess specific corridors  which have a high volume at specific times and  traffic delay that is non-recurring this are incidents that occur due to instances like vehicle breakdown or medical emergencies. These instances can lead to minimal delays during off-peak periods and lead to huge traffic at peak hours which can increase collision frequency. Increase congestion affects business productivity negatively due to reduced market size and increased operating costs.

In water, transportation delays are caused by clearance in the ports and offloading of cargo which is sometimes slow. These causes a great inconvenience to the shippers as sometimes they may have to dig deeper into their pockets than expected when the tax  that they were not aware of have been imposed. This delays can lead to some goods going bad when expected delivery time is exceeded which is a great negativeimpact on the economy (Gray & Graham, 2012). With extended delays creates more harm than good because transactions do not get to be as expected from the manufacturers down to the retailers.

Green technology can be implemented in different ways like using hybrid cars which run on battery partially as it consumes lesser fuel and gets great mileage(Gerdes, 2008). Electric vehicles can also be an option since they are economic and environmentally friendly. In short term fuel efficiency should be improved to ensure that better part of fossil fuels fully combusted and very minimal greenhouse gasses are produced, long-term goals encouraging the use of renewable energy. When these measures are put up it will lead to transportation sustainability which will be efficiency and effective to the economy and the environment.  For liquid and gas materials pipeline transportation may be regarded instead of the road.

For my company, I would opt for green technology as it makes a positive impact on the environment and economy. The main climate change contributor is transport since it involves burning of fossil fuels(Coad, 2012). It contributes about 23% of the worlds of air and water pollution. To eradicate pollution, through transportation, green transportation is encouraged as it has the following benefits; it is eco-friendly and does affect the immediate environment negatively since it does not use fossil fuels which are dangerous to the environment. It’s lead to economic development which is sustainable; this is the creation of jobs opportunities through expansion transport system and manufacturing of green vehicles(Coad, 2012). Green transportation economical since it uses consumes lesser fuel leading to saving of money. Activities involved in the transportation lead to better health as cycling and walking is a form of exercise. Embracing walking and cycling when covering short distances instead of driving. Thoughtfully consumption of petrol by avoiding mindlessly driving, it should be only when necessary. Encouraging carpooling or use of public transport would be a good practice to save the environment. For water transportation, large ships can replace small ships since it will carry many goods which will help in reducing water pollution which compromises on the lives of marine animals.

In my opinion, the government should come up with a way to curb congestions on roads and waterways to enhance economy growth. For example, it can come up with the idea of constructing roads which will be set aside for use by trucks only which will favor shippers as to some extent they will have not experience delays that result due to traffic jams which occur at peak hours. In the ports, better clearance procedures which are fast should be implemented to reduce congestions and curb losses that the economy can experience due to going bad of goods. Also, green transport should slowly be introduced and encouraged to have pollution free environment which will be friendly to humans and animals.
