For the problem-solving forum you will be making 3 posts, one in each of the three forums.  Each post (initial and reply) needs to be greater than 250 words and there is NO word limit, but please I’m not looking for volumes.  In addition, please properly reference when required.  When using the text simply quote the text and indicate the page number in parentheses, for example (26).  If using another source then use APA format. 

Three separate forums have been created to help organize the posts.  Again, you will be making one post in each of the forums. Your initial post needs to be made by Friday noon and up until Friday noon, you will only be able to make your initial post and not see posts in the other forums.  The remaining forums will open Friday afternoon.  If you do not make your initial post by the designated day you do not receive credit for the post. You can make your two replies on the same day.

A file has been posted that indicates what case you have been assigned to complete your initial post and your replies. For your initial post, you will address the case employing the steps to problem solve (making a decision).  Please identify each of the steps in your initial post. Please identify each step as a sub-heading in your post.

You will thoroughly address each step.

 Case 1 The Tight Deadline

     “Just one day out at a conference and the work mounts,” said office manager Susan Miller.  “You won’t believe everything I’ve got to do.  It took half an hour just to sort out email, mail, and phone messages to write my daily To-Do list.”

     “What’s first?” asked assistant Betsy Adams.

     “The monthly overtime report due date changed, the boss needs it by day after tomorrow.  The trouble is it takes 3 to 4 hours and right now I have 45 minutes before I start the scheduled interviews that will last the rest of the day.”

     “I know that report is a bear,” Betsy said. “Remember, I’m the one who types it.  When are you going to have it ready?

     “I was thinking of starting now and finishing it tomorrow morning, though it is difficult to stop the calculations and to pick where you left off, you usually need to start the calculations from the beginning again once you have stopped.”

     Betsy said, “I have available time to type the report in the next two days, but you never know as priorities keep changing from administration.” “Maybe wait and do it on the day it is due?  Pressure deadlines make me work more efficiently.”

     “More pressure I can do without,” Susan responded.

     Betsy shrugged and said. “Well, I’ll be ready when you are ready for me.”

Please be reminded that when you are replying you are not answering the case but commenting on what has already been said and how your fellow classmate applied the problem-solving steps. 

So that all receive comments please first evaluate a post that has NOT been commented on before making multiple posts to one reflection. If everyone posts then everyone will receive feedback from a peer. If all initial posts have been commented on then you can select an initial post that has already been commented on.

You will not see anyone’s initial post until you post.
