Australia’s films comparatively promote the belief that white landscape tradition contributes to a bigger percentage in the formation of superior national mythologies and maintenance of national identity.  In the field of art, literature and cinema, landscapes play critical roles and have been centre staged in the field of art. The use of landscapes creates a defining character of a country and states. For instance, in the film Picnic at Hanging Rock, landscape used suggested to be strange and haunted. However, if the landscape does not fall under Peter Weir’s categorization, then it is termed barren, hostile and empty (Webby & Harris, 2013). The hypothesis of this article is to review key Australian films that have acknowledged the importance of landscapes in their settings. The article also includes a collection of screen based Artists. The artists has played important role in challenging the people’s perception upon Australian landscape (Webby & Harris, 2013). These personal views include individual maneuvers into the landscape management, exploring place and space, diversity in narrative form and perception. The three art-works, independently provides their own explanations that seek to de-construct the re-known mythologies that forms a solid continuum of the way people perceive the landscape. The contemporary challenges of perceiving landscape in distinct angles mainly signals development in moving image culture. The acquired knowledge is applicable in re-viewing film representation that revolves around the Australian landscape (Rayner, 2000).

Crocodile Dundee (2000)

The film ‘Crocodile Dundee’ is the key and most popular movie that takes into account the Australian landscape. In the movie, Paul Hogan (the male rugged person) represents Mick Dundee. He represents a person of high perseverance, esteem and has power over nature. Hogan is able to live and conform to the environmental harshness (Muir & Rock, 2012). In chapter one of the film, Hogan is able to hypnotize a buffalo creating inconvenience in the road. The practice is attributable to the Hogan’s mystic control over nature. On the other hand, the imagery of buffalo does not represent a native organism of Australia. To some extent the buffalo represents a pristine Australian landscape. The imagery plays an effective role that promotes character trait development.
