The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) is a universal bill of rights for women that were embraced by the United Nations General Assembly in 1979. • The states take measures to enshrine the gender equality in the legal system and enactment of new provisions. This incorporates abolishment and repeal of discriminatory laws and emphasizing on the appropriate laws that prohibit all forms of women discrimination.
• The states in collaboration with the legal system establish tribunals to act as a watchdog in order to provide ample protection and to ensure effectiveness of regulations set to eliminate discrimination against women (Ernst, 2012).
• The states ensure that all acts of discrimination by enterprises, persons or organizations are appropriately eliminated.
• States provide implementable measures that seek to curb unfavorable customs and prejudices that are on the idea of considering one sex as inferior or superior over the other (Ernst, 2012). This may also be based on stereotyped responsibilities for men and women.
• According to the article 10, there is a need for coeducation and provision of equal opportunities in education for both male and female students.
