How is the Scrum Master role similar and different than a project manager role?

The role of Scrum Master is different than the role of Project manager. Scrum master is the one who facilitate the team and make sure that team deliver the value while Project Manager is the person who leads the project and Manage the Project. Scrum Master is working one task at a time while Project Manager can manage several Project at the same time. Lastly, the working style used by the project manager is mostly waterfall while Scrum Master normally not use that.

Would you be a better ScrumMaster or Product Owner? Why?

If I have to choose between Product Owner and Scrum Master, I   will go with Product Owner. The reason for picking Product Owner over the Scrum Master is the Team Motivation which is normally done by Product Owner. Further, Product Owner is the person who is accountable for Maximizing the value of the Business. Product owner is the one who prioritize the stories according to the requirement.

The scrum master role is very different from the project manager role. The main reason for that – the scrum approach is different from a traditional methodology. In the traditional approach, the project manager is in charge of assigning tasks within the team, setting deadlines and controlling every aspect of the project. In the scrum, the majority of the project manager’s responsibilities is taken by the team. The scrum master is in charge of mentoring the team but not managing it. The scrum master can provide directions, but cannot give specific tasks. 

· Would you be a better Scrum Master or Product Owner? Why?

The product owner is someone who knows what outcome is expected at the end of the project. The product owner serves as a communication channel between the client and the team. He ensures that clear expectations are set and the team understands what product they need to deliver. I think I would be a better product owner than the scrum master. The product owner is better oriented towards results and actual work that needs to be done, while scrum master is more involved in the methods used to deliver the product.
