The final project for this course is the creation of a Healthcare Delivery Systems Research Paper. The final product represents an authentic demonstration competency, as students will choose related topics to those present in today’s healthcare industry. The project is divided into 3 milestones, which will be submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold learning and ensure quality final submissions. These milestones will be submitted in Modules Three, Five, and Seven. Refer to the grading rubric for written papers for information about how your writing will be evaluated.

Objectives
To successfully complete this project, you will be expected to apply what you have learned in this course and should include several of the following course objectives:

• Understand the role that the healthcare system plays in improving health status
• Identify the key components of the healthcare delivery system
• Identify the socioeconomic drivers of healthcare and their impact on the system
• Identify major gaps in access to care and reasons for those gaps
• Appreciate the ethical issues with regard to healthcare disparities, allocation of resources, access to care, and individual “rights” to healthcare
• Describe collaborative methods to maintain or improve health status of populations

Main Elements
The topic for the course paper will be related to Healthcare Delivery Systems. Depending on the topic, your paper may be inquiry, based on a broad level (identifying delivery strengths and weaknesses or evaluating Medicare/Medicaid settings in delivery systems) or inquiry-based on specific investigations (major stakeholders, geographic distribution and access, etc.). The paper will begin with an introduction and background information on the chosen topic.The background information should envelop your specific chosen topic, highlighting key componentssuch as improving health status, socioeconomic drivers, gaps in service, ethical dilemmas, etc.As related to your topic, you are asked to recommend improvements to the present system.Researching and citing specific resources to back your suggested recommendations are required.
• Describe five government organizations and their roles in healthcare.
 Identify key components and their effect on various healthcare populations.

Milestone Three:Final Product (graded, 16 points)
In Module Seven, you will submit the final paper. It should be a complete, polished artifact.Consider submitting the paper to Turnitin early in the week so that you have time to review the Originality Report and may make any modifications.You may resubmit your paper up until the due date and time. Once the due date has passed, you will not be able to submit or resubmit your paper. Please plan accordingly.
