The hotel group was established in 1962 with a hotel in London with 500 yearly customers and has since expanded to four locations. Three other hotels are situated in Edinburgh, Paris and Rome. The hotel group received 50,000 booking last year, with 34% booking coming from the London hotel and 22% from the remaining other hotels.
The Rome and Paris hotels have also not been refurbished since 1990.

However, more recently, intense competition from new hotels with hi-tech technology and comfort and professionally designed promotional websites has beginning to adversely affect the Chacha Hotel groups� ability to attract more customers, thus its ability to expand.

The Chacha Hotel groups also do not provide any internet facility to any of their customers, which is affecting the hotels business.

The Chacha Hotel Group administration is not also supported by a computer-based information system, with most of the work is still done manually e.g. the bookings are taken by phone or through travel agents. Each hotel has a computer to complete some admin work, but they are not inter-connected with other hotels of the group.
. All of the computers in the group are 7 years old and operate using Microsoft�s Windows XP operating system.
Communications between different hotels is relies solely on phone or post mails. Therefore if phones lines are busy, then a person can be on hold for a long time to get through.
Their current computer which they use for administration consists of several folders and sub-folders containing thousands of different types of files, filed loosely under their respective administrative functions e.g. reports, hotel bookings and financial data, etc. his is a major problem due to the increase in staff and consequently bookings are being affected.
