Breaking Bad is an American television drama that was produced on January 20, 2008; that is, the first season. The season is made up of seven episodes. In approximation, each episode runs for forty-eight minutes. However, the Pilot episode is an exception because it is approximately fifty-eight minutes long. The series major focus is Walter who is commonly referred to as Walt. His real name is Bryan Cranston. He is a high school chemistry teacher who is paid poorly.

Episode I: Pilot

In this episode, Walt is diagnosed with lung cancer. The diagnoses change his life completely because he wonders how he is going to cater for his family and himself when sick. He needs quite a large amount of money so as to be able to support his family and pay for his hospital bills. Walt is seen as a man who basically leads a poor life. In the school that he is teaching chemistry, most of his students disrespect him. They are un-interested with what he is teaching. It is evidenced by the way they keep on fidgeting, giggling and talking to each other during his lessons. Walter however seems undisturbed by this and in most occasions, he continues with his work unmarred with what the students are doing. After the diagnosis, Walter knows that he has to find another way in which he can earn money. It is guaranteed by the fact that he earns very little from the job that he is doing. To solve the problem, Walter starts cooking methamphetamine. It is this that he sells as a way of making an extra coin.

In addition, as seen in this episode, Walter offers his services in a car wash during his free time. Here, he is able to make more income. The move makes him be ridiculed by his students. However, he does not give up so easily because at the back of his mind he knows too well that he has to do it as a way of acquiring money. His place of residence is also introduced in this episode. Walter is a residence of Albuquerque in New Mexico. It is here that he lives with Skyler (Anna Gun) his wife who is pregnant and his son Walter Jr. (RJ Mitte). To add problems to Walter’s troubles, his son has Cerebral Palsy which means that more money is required to cater for him.

Hank Schrader (Dean Norris) agrees to take Walter with him on a ride to meth lab bust. It is after he had politely asked him to do so. Hank is Walter’s brother-in-law who is an agent to DEA. It is here that Walter spots one of his former students Jesse (Aaron Paul) running away from the venue. He discovers that the young man is a drug dealer. Using record of student information, Walter is able to locate the whereabouts of Jesse. He approaches Jesse and threatens him that if he does not get him into the drug trafficking business he would report to the authorities. At this point, Walter is so desperate for money. His need and thirst for fast money can be heard in his voice and seen in his facial expression. One can easily see and conclude that all he wants is to give his family a good life. The thought that his wife will give birth soon; adding the number of people that needs to be catered for heightens his morale.

Jesse agrees to Walter’s proposal of making methamphetamine for sale. He sees it as great idea that would income for the both of them. Walt further takes a hasty decision. He decides to use all his life savings to purchase a Recreational Vehicle with which they travel to a desert in New Mexico. It is here that they start making the methamphetamine. Jesse is so awed by the idea that he introduces it to one of his former partner Crazy Eight. In turn Crazy disclose the idea to Emilio Koyama. The latter recalls that he had seen Walter in the drug bust that he had attended. Koyama sees Walter as an enemy and therefore plans on how he would kill him. He however suggests that he will teach them on how to make the methamphetamines if they gave him a chance. They agree and as this episode comes to an end, Walter uses phosphate gas cancer to kill them.

Episode 2: Cat’s in the bag

The episode shows some of the bad side of Chemistry that Walter has used to his advantage. Further, the episode shows the consequences that Walter and Jesse are suffering. It shows parts where they are remorseful for their actions but this does not prompt them to quit. After all, Walter knows that he has got few months to live hence has nothing to lose. In this episode, Skyler Has already realized that her husband is acting in a weird way. She is seen wondering where a husband seems to be getting all the money from within a short time. As the episode picks up, Walter collapses while in the bathroom. It is here that he sleeps and when Jesse calls his house in the morning Skyler is the one that picks up the phone. After she hangs up the phone, it is clear from the way she reacts that she has sensed something is not right. Walter and Jesse are faced with a tussle on who would dispose of Emilio’s body and kill Crazy. Since no one wants to do so, the two agree to play a coin flipping game from which they would determine who would execute the activity.
