George Smith Patton Jr was a well-educated graduate from United States Military Academy of West Point. Continuing his family’s heritage of serving in the Armed Forces, which dates back to the Civil War, he was commissioned in 1909.

In 1915, he gained battle experience when he was assigned to command a Calvary unit and combat Mexican forces lead by Pancho Villa. He was the first commanding officer to be assigned to the new U.S Army Tank Corps in World War I.
As time progressed, he rose through the ranks over several decades and ultimately reaching the climax of his career throughout World War I. Leading the 7 th Army into Sicily and sweeping all of northern France ahead of the 3 rd Army in 1944. General Patton led his troops in the Battle of the Bulge where they took possession of over 10,000 miles of territory.
