Few years ago while we were enjoying an incredibly beautiful day in our home my father suddenly asked me what I wish to finish in college and where I wish to continue my studies. I did not bother to answer his questions immediately as it came so unexpectedly. My father interpreted my long silence as being undecided thus he advised me to take the matter seriously. He told me that my choices in life including those that pertain to my studies would greatly influence my future and the opportunities that I will have. He further told me that in making choices I have to consider and identify my primary aspirations, my passion and values – those things that would naturally motivate me to be my best. He said that it is only through these that I may be able to find the true meaning and purpose of my life.

Ever since I was still young, I dreamed of becoming a part of an international organization anchoring its mission on providing humanitarian relief works. Some of my friends said that this is a tough job but I take this as a great challenge worthy of my endeavors. Human as I am, I really want to be part of a concerted effort to address global concerns and issues affecting people’s lives. I wish to have a significant contribution to other people’s lives through sharing my knowledge, my skills and my time. This aspiration motivates me to pursue a degree majoring International Studies. My aspirations coupled with my interest in history and economics will surely help me become successful in my studies.

When I work I want to deliver my share and commitment with utmost competence and efficiency. Thus, I need to have an in-depth understanding of the global systems’ past, of various international phenomena as well as complex cross-cultural situations and other international issues and concerns. Further, I understand that communication is also vital to the work that I wish to have thus I want to hone my communication skills both verbal and written so that I may be able to translate and articulate myself to the meaning I intended. Thus, my choice of university is really vital.
