This final project paper will discuss the similarities and differences between the roles andscopes of practice in the master of nursing areas. To be specific the nurse practitioner, nurse educator, nurse informaticist, and nurse administrator.

I will then go into more detail about the family nurse practitioner role since that is the specialty I have chosen for my master degree. I will then discuss my current leadership style. I will then discuss a current policy and how I would go about restructuring the policy. Advanced Practice Roles in NursingI will discuss four advanced practice nursing areas in the following paragraphs. They all adhere to the advanced practice competencies. Some of them have overlapping areas and some accomplish these competencies from an entirely different angle. I will touch on their roles in clinical practice, primary care, education, administration, and research.

Nurse PractitionerThe nurse practitioner role is considered to have a direct clinical practice focus. The primary care nurse practitioner cares for patients across the life span. They provide direct care in private and public practices, acute care facilities, and in long-term care facilities. They work as a licensed independent practitioner that provides the full spectrum of health care needs with a patient-centered care focus. They coach and guide their patients through many chronic and acute illnesses. The nurse practitioner educates their patients on about their diagnosis, treatments, and lifestyle changes that may be needed.

The nurse practitioner may also teach future advanced practitioners in a university setting. The nurse practitioner from an administrative view point uses leadership abilities to implement ethical policies that will enhance access, equality, quality, and affordability. Nurse practitioners use research, theory, and practice knowledge to develop new practice approaches (Hamric, Hanson, Tracy, & O’Grady, 2014). Nurse EducatorThe nurse educator is indirect care provider. The nurse educator role focuses on one clinical population and then applies teaching methods to staff members on caring for that

Administratively nurse educators collaborate with nursing leaders to ensure all staff members are competent and able to provide quality safe care.
