Compose an Antithesis Essay.

• The introduction to your essay must pose your research question.
• The body of the paper should discuss the major issues around your research question that you have uncovered in your research so far.
• You must incorporate information from two—and only two—outside sources. You must cite all outside information correctly and ethically.
• Your conclusion must clearly state your working thesis.
• You must include a Works Cited page and format your paper according to MLA guidelines.
• Assume that you are writing for a general readership; do not direct your writing to me, nor should you phrase your writing as if the reader has any knowledge of this assignment.
• The essay should be approximately 750 words, not including the Works Cited.

Sample Antithesis Outline

1. Introduction

1. Clearly state research question.
2. Give a brief overview of the issues that you will be discussing.
3. First body section

1. Discuss first issue with research topic.
2. Cite/discuss source #1
3. Second body section

1. Discuss second issue with research topic. May be a new issue, an expansion of the issue above, or a counter to the issue above.
2. Cite/discuss source #2
3. Third body section

1. Put source #1 and source #2 in conversation with each other.
2. Analyze source #1 and source #2

OR

1. Introduce a few other questions or issues around your research question.
2. Put source #1 and source #2 into context of these additional issues.

OR (there are a number of directions you could go with section 3, including possibly not having one)

1. Conclusion

1. Restate research question
2. Summarize discussion of issue from body section
3. Present thesis as the logical conclusion to your discussion of this research question.
