Infant bonding can be said to be the extreme and intense relationship that grows between infants and their parents or caregivers. The attachment is seen in the way people take care of young ones and protect them. The bonding is of much importance to both the parents and their infants. Studies have proven that the bonding is responsible for children’s first learned behaviors. At a young age, children mostly develop bonding with their mothers. It is so because they are the ones that respond to them when they are in need. They breast-feed the baby when hungry or she shows signs of searching for the breast. When hungry the mothers are the ones that feed them. However, this does not necessarily mean that other people like fathers and siblings are of less importance when it comes to bonding. They also play very important roles in the bonding process. Hence, this bonding helps children develop trust in people. An infant’s cognitive and social development is affected by their parent’s responsiveness. The bonding also makes children feel more secure and helps in the development of self-esteem.

It is also important because it prepares a young one on the need of having healthy relationships with people and why it is essential to respond to other people’s needs. When other children like brothers, sisters and their friends play next to a baby’s crib, the baby usually gets excited and show signs of wanting to play too. The kind of response portrayed by baby’s is important because it is a good sign of development of loving relationship. It also helps children realize that is need for peace and unity and that one cannot live on their selves. To parents, care-givers, relatives and those who get to be attached to a new baby bonding is also important to them. It is because it gives them a sense of responsibility, develops loving relationships acts as a pillar of unity.

There are many things that people can do to help form bonds and attachments. They include; holding the infant close and comforting them especially when they cry. Talking to the baby regularly, developing an attitude of holding the baby even when he/ she is quiet. It can be done when watching television or reading. It is best that the one holding the baby at such times watches programs that are related to children like cartoons and funny baby related animations. Bonding can also be enhanced by ensuring that there is someone who responds to an infant’s cry as soon as they start crying and ensuring that the baby never stays hungry. Further, it can be through smiling to the baby, not talking loudly and harshly to them and by taking regular walks. Finally, it can be achieved by playing games with the baby and making them laugh regularly.

Depending on the perspective that one views it, television can hurt and still develop the bonding process. If those attending to the baby spends much of their time watching television and forget to attend to infants, then in this case the bonding will be hurt. On the other hand, spending time watching stuff that interest the infants while holding them will be of benefit to the bonding.
