Unfortunately, while this argument could account for the blood of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman which showed up in Simpson’s Ford Bronco, it could not account for how Simpson’s blood dropped onto the driveway or walkway. The defense would later come up with more far-fetched theories to account for the presence of the O. J.’s blood at the scene of the crime.
The samples of O. J.’s blood which the police found at the crime scene were collected on June 13, 1995, and were immediately tested by the Los Angeles Police lab. Later that same day, the police were given a sample of O. J. Simpson’s blood, and on June 14, 1995, the Los Angeles Police lab conducted a second test on the blood that O. J. had provided to them. Both the early test of the blood found at the crime scene and the test run the next day of O. J. sample matched.
Later the defense would argue that because officer Fuhrman was a racist, he might have contaminated the samples. (Fuhrman had initially denied knowing a woman called Kathleen Bell who had taped-recorded his racial slurs years before)(Kennedy, 1995, pp. 243-245).
