Consult the APA Resources module to view how. *Grading * Due to the specificity of APA format, the instructor will not deduct an automatic 2.5 points if there is only one item missed on any of the four major grading criteria. The 2.5 points for each of the four grading criteria is a total for that particular segment of the assignment (ie: If there were not one item correct in all of grading criteria #1, then it would be a loss of the total 2.5 points). Bipolar disorders are identified with increasing frequency in clinical practice. Until recently, patients treated in outpatient psychiatric settings were presumed overwhelmingly to have unipolar diagnoses. However, later studies on the affective subtypes treated in this setting reveal a different picture. These investigations suggested that approximately 30% of depressed patients treated in outpatient psychiatric settings may have bipolar spectrum illness. A prospective study conducted by the National Institute of Mental Health (Rockville, Md) found that 12.5% of patients initially given a diagnosis of major depression eventually had a bipolar illness.
