Revising and Developing the first drafts of two papers
There are two papers need to be revised and developed. The first one is called “The Wise Counsel of Mrs. Jackson”. The purpose of this paper is to focus on a challenging situation you (the student) have faced and on your (the situation’s) own creative response to it. Try to write the essay in the form of a narrative. Please follow the guides for writing narrative essays. Think about the skills of story-telling.
The second paper that needs to be revised is a draft letter about recommended readings. The purpose of this paper is to describe a person who is interested in your (the student’s) development in school. You (the student) explained (to yourself) who that person is, why that person is interested, and what about you (the student) that person cares about. And then write a draft of a letter to that person vitally interested in your (the student’s) development as a student and a thinker and explain how and why that person should read any one or more of the texts (uploaded; “Secrets of the Creative Brain” and ‘Prehistoric Eyes”) read so far. In writing the letter, consider who you are writing to, why you are writing to that person, and why that person would be interested in the text or texts you’ve selected. Since the person will not have read the material, you will need to provide context and examples to support what you have to say. In this assignment the challenge is to bring forward the insights and experiences from the first part of the course into the second.
Expectations for Paper Revisions
a) Make revision throughout the essay and add one additional page to each of two essays.
b) The revisions must reflect a genuine re-seeing of the papers.
c) The revisions must yield essays that are at lease 4 pages in length.
d) The revisions must be finished, polished pieces of work, and should reflect a level of care appropriate to such a finished product.
e) The revisions must be proofread carefully.
f) The revisions must reflect what you have learned about audience needs, qualify and relevance of evidence, development of ideas, and completeness of thought.
