Assessment information This module follows the principles of the University’s Assessment Compact, developed in conjunction with the Student Union, to ensure good practice and transparency in assessment and feedback processes. Coursework, weighting 100% There are two pieces of coursework: The outline formative assignment -10% Provide an outline plan stating what and how you will be answering the coursework including relevant theories, sources of references and details on contents. Final Essay – 90% Learning outcomes assessed The assignment will enable students to demonstrate that they have achieved Professional and Transferable Skills defined in the Learning Outcomes: Knowledge and Understanding  Understand the interrelationships between operations management and other business functions in the achievement of corporate objectives in a range of organisations that are diverse in terms of their nature, purpose, size, structure and culture  Analyse the influence of the factors emerging from the business environment on the application of operations management concepts to a diverse range of organisations operating in rapidly changing regional, national and/or global environments  Demonstrate a critical appreciation of the importance of, and processes and practices involved in, the management and organisation of the operations function, and in the planning, control and integration of business operations and resource management strategies Professional Skills  Select and critically apply appropriate tools and techniques of operations planning and control to the investigation and resolution of a range of operational issues and scenarios in diverse contexts.  Devise, substantiate, sustain and where necessary refute arguments contributing to decision making, informed by both critical enquiry and practical insights, and using appropriate means of dissemination.  Develop and strengthen the short- and long-term strategic competitive capabilities of organisations operating in diverse domestic, international and global markets by building upon a sound understanding of operations and resource management principles.
