DAT 530 Milestone 2 – The manner in which information is presented to the target audience determines how well such informed will be received as well as dictate the impact it will make. In data visualization, the method of presentation should be clear and reflect the expectations of the target audience as shown in this task.

Platform/Media Selection

The first target audience is that state budget office where the recommended platform for delivering the data visualization is the use of a PowerPoint. The PowerPoint is an effective tool because it will provide a clear presentation of the visualizations that the target audience can follow with ease. I intend to make slides with clear visuals that are appropriate for the target audience. The second platform is the use of an interactive dashboard which will allow for tracking, analyzing and display of information relevant to the target audience. The dashboards provide opportunity for manipulations or changes that are tailored to meet user needs. The last platform is creating a web page or a pamphlet that has safety information targeting the general public. Having a website that is easy to access for the target audience is one way to ensure that the visualization meets a wider target market.

How it Works

Plot/Visual Display

Plots and other forms of visual display are an important way to effectively communicate to the target audience. Use of plots, numerical data presentations, graphs and other visual displays can be used to provide a better view of the information being sent to the target audience. Use of pie charts on the PowerPoint presentation, graphs and plots as well as other forms of visual presentations can be an effective way towards communicating with the target audience.
