This assessment relates to the following module learning outcomes:

6. Demonstrate ability to be critically reflective within professional practice and
formal learning.
You are expected to clearly demonstrate that you have achieved these learning
outcomes in this assessment.
This assignment constitutes 50% of the assessment for this module.
Specific Guidance:
Each part of the assignment should have an introduction that includes:
background information about the topic
the rationale – why is the information you have included significant
the signpost – how the information will be discussed
Each part should have a conclusion that includes:
a brief summary of the main points of your work
concluding observations/statements.
Your work should be supported by current and relevant literature.
Part 1:
Select a reflective model of your choice: for example Gibbs, Johns, Driscoll.
You should offer a rationale for your choice.
Select two of the following skills :
Critical thinking
Critical reading
Critical writing
Critical reflection
You may write one reflective account for each skill, or one reflective
account that incorporates both skills.
Each stage of the selected model should be clearly articulated
Use reference material wherever appropriate to support your discussion
Part 2:
This part should be in essay format however the use of first person “I” is
permitted due to the nature of the topic.
Your discussion should be supported by a breadth of literature from a variety of
sources.
General guidance
Do not put off starting this assignment. In particular, check:
• That you have read and understood the question;
• That your writing is structured and logical so that the reader can follow your
argument;
• That you ensure that your submission meets the presentation requirements in
terms of: font size (12); font style (Arial); line spacing (double); page numbers;
and student number;
• That you avoid inadvertent plagiarism and ensure you attribute all sources;
• That your approach to referencing is accurate and meets the School’s agreed
standard (Harvard Stirling University Style);
• That you include accurate spelling, grammar and word count;
• That you include the appropriate front cover with all the necessary
information;
• That you proof-read your paper to avoid unnecessary penalties and do not
underestimate the time required for proofreading.
SCQF Level 9 criteria (Appendix 3) indicate the general requirements to pass the
submission. However, students who put in greater effort or who exhibit a significant
depth of discussion will be rewarded accordingly.
Word limit policy
Students are expected to comply with word limits on assessments. A penalty will be
incurred for being above the word limit. A penalty will be incurred if the work is more
than 10% above the permitted word limit. Three marks will be deducted for every
10% over the word limit.

You must submit electronically using Turnitin on Succeed. There are instructions for
how to submit your work this way in the Assessments folder on the menu on the left
of the Succeed screen.
Avoiding plagiarism
