Directions: Collect two “case problems” related to parenting young children or issues of very young children, found in magazines, newspapers, or on Internet bulletin board postings such as leaving a child in a hot car, tantrums, refusals to eat, or others (children younger than 3 years old). Advice columns work especially well. Analyze the columns in terms of developmental concepts and assess whether or not the “expert” offering advice seems well versed in developmental issues. Write a developmentally appropriate response or short reaction paper to doing the exercise. Your just need to write one response (not two) that address both case problems. Your response must demonstrate your understanding of the materials covered in class.
Length Requirements: Your response paper should be at least one page, and no more than two pages long (appropriately 300-400 words). You do not need to attach the two case problems you collect. Use a few sentences to summarize the case problems and the advices suggested by the “experts”.
APA Format Requirements: You are expected to follow the APA guidelines if you include any quotes or citations from the textbook or any other materials. Include proper APA in-text citations. For example, include (Author(s), Year of Publication) when you cite any information. A bibliography is NOT required for this assignment.
Follow these formatting guidelines:
– Times New Roman font
– Size 12 font
– 1 inch margins
– Double spaced
– Put “Response 1 Assignment & Your Name” (e.g., Response 1 Assignment_MingjunXie) on the header.
– No need to include a cover page.
