I am the son of Flavius Valerius Constantius, a Roman army constable and Helena his consort. My father became the vice emperor in the west in 293. I was sent east, where I rose to various ranks to become a military affiliate under the emperors Galerius and Diocletian. In 305, my father, Constantius, was promoted to the level of Augustus (senior western emperor) and I was recall west to campaign under him in Britannia(Lambert, 2006). I was announced the by the ruling army at Eboracum after the death of my father in 306. During my reign, I emperor emerged victoriously in civil wars to defeat the emperors Licinius and Maxentius in order to have the sole power in both east and west by 324.

Some of my achievements would evolve in various facets of life, which are not limited to political, architecture, religion, philosophy and intellectual life accomplishments. Politically, I was an influential military leader. I achieved some critical war against the German rulers, leading to a subsequent abandoning of the territory(Lambert, 2006). I gradually become the undisputed ruler of the roman empire by constantly defeating the imperial opponents. In the military, I divided the large army into two groups, which was a great innovation, the limitanei and the comitatenses. The limitanei guarded the frontiers while the comitatenses stationed farther back acted as a field or a striking force accessible at any time where the need arose. Secondly, I introduce a gold coin (solidus).The coin maintained its purity and weight throughout my reign and anticipated maintaining its strength for the next seven centuries. The introduction has played a great achievement in blocking the change of the west region to a barter economy. Thirdly, I have been supporting massive building program, both of civil buildings and Christian churches. Most of these massive infrastructures include buildings.The program promotes the availability and affordability of skilled work force (architects and builders) that ensure proper and standard construction. I had built the imperial residence, near Rome at Byzantium(Blond, 2012).
