Noel Pearson

Achievements

Noel Pearson was born in 1965. Noel is an influential activist and a prominent academic achiever and a lawyer. He possesses credible leadership skills that contribute to the economic and social perception of the Indigenous Australians. For example, in 2014, Pearson delivered a hilarious eulogy for Gough Whitlam . The speech was hailed the best political speech in the Australian history. He attended the native title cases, for instance, the WIK decision (Pearson, 2011). The High Court ruling on the cases is recorded in the Australian history as the most critical Native Title cases.

Motivations

Pearson proposed the removal of perverse incentives from the system. The approach aimed at creating employment and to raise the standards of living of the people. Noel discusses advocate transformation through an inclusive government (Pearson, 2011): He made key points to ensure compliance to the people’s economic needs. These changes included:

  • Changing the societies’ culture, perceptions, beliefs and expectations.
  • Advancing infrastructures to enhance people and organization to embrace changes

Contribution of his achievements

Noel is involved in pressing on the rights of Aboriginal people. His leadership skills contributed to the formation of the land council of the Cape York in 1990. He was an affiliate of the constitutional expert panel (Pearson, 2009). The panel advocated the acknowledgement of the Torres Strait Islander in the Australians constitution. The panel also prohibited racial discrimination in the society and recommended for constitutional recognition of indigenous people.
