METHOD: Each student will recruit one participant (13-17 years) to complete the on-line questionnaire. No recruitment of immediate family members is allowed (e.g. siblings, children), but it is encouraged and ok for other students to invite their participation. The online questionnaire consists of several demographic and 10 standardised psychological measures. However, only nine will be used to produce the data file to be analysed. The four measures used to describe the Complete Mental Health of the sample are: 1. The Psychological Well-being Scale: 18 questions, six subscales, scored on a 6 point Likert scale. 2. Students will need to gain the consent of a participants parent or guardian if they are 16 years of age or less via a signed consent form. If participants are 17 year of age they do not need parental consent. Participants will give their assent via the first page of the questionnaire. The questionnaire can be accessed at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/psychologypractical. It is anticipated that the questionnaire will take no longer than 15 minutes to complete. You must return all completed consent forms to the general office in an envelope with Dr Anthony Vennings name, the subject name (Health and Lifespan Development), and your name and student number on the front of the envelope. RECRUITMENT OF PARTICIPANTS: Contact friends, extended family, neighbours, people you come into contact with in your everyday life and fellow students. If you have siblings or know additional children of the right age who would be willing to participate, you are encouraged to help a fellow student make initial contact! If, after a COMPREHENSIVE effort, you are not able to recruit participants you will need to complete the substitute task or contact Dr Anthony Venning, outline the steps you have taken and your situation, and he will attempt to initiate contact with potential participants (this is not guaranteed). This should be a last option and all efforts to recruit participants yourself must have been exhausted. You MUST contact Dr Venning by the 13th August to give yourself enough time to make contact with alternative participants (if available) otherwise you will need to complete the alternative task by the 31st August (NO grace period). NOTE: The 1000 word redemption exercise is in ADDITION to the 1500 practical report, and if you do not enter data from a participant (or complete the negotiated alternative) by the due date you will not receive a mark for this Practical. Test this by examining if psychological well-being scores differ by age and gender. ? The third research question will require you to determine which independent variable(s) best predict a dependant variable. Test this by examining which of the PERMA measures best predict psychological well-being. THE REPORT should include the following: Title (less than 15 words): Your report should have a title that is brief and informative, and is NOT ?an examination of the predictors of well-being. Abstract (up to 150 words): summarizing the aims, method, results, and conclusions. It is often a good idea to write the abstract AFTER you have completed the other sections of your report. Introduction: Your opening paragraph should put the research into context by identifying the area of research you will be addressing and why it is important. In the body of the introduction you should intergrate existing literature with your studys aims and methodology, and make this flow logically into your research questions. Discuss what you have found and how the findings relate to your hypotheses and research outlined in the introduction. Interpret how your results add to or conflict with existing research.
